The course content includes computer languages. These are useful for becoming familiar and adept at the use of computers. Some institutes impart training in Application Software. However, the recognition and value of course taken at a private institute depends on the accredition the course receives from DOEAC.

  • Department of Electronics Accredition of Computer Courses (DOEACC)- The DOEACC (Department of Electronics Accreditation of Computer Courses) scheme was initiated in early 1991 to introduce some sort of method into the computer training, so as to bring quality and standardisation at all levels. Department of Electronic (DOE) is operating a scheme, namely, department of Electronics Accreditation of Computer Courses (DOEACC) under which computer training institutes/organizations in the non-formal sector, subject to meeting will-defined norms and criteria, are given accreditation for conducting courses. There are four levels of courses under this scheme:
    • 'O' Foundation
    • 'A' Advanced Diploma

The successful candidates are awarded appropriate certificates/diplomas. Students undergoing the 'accredited course' in an accredited institute as well as working professionals can appear in these examinations. As on date four 'O' level examinations, one 'A' level and three 'C' level examinations have been conducted. The first 'B' level examination was held in December 1993. Those who have successfully completed the 'O' level examinations have got suitable jobs.
